President, UPS International
As president of UPS International, Dan Brutto is responsible for the company's global expansion. He leads UPS international package, freight forwarding and logistics businesses, as well as U.S. international package services serving more than 220 countries and territories.
Dan has presided over these operations at a time of rapid growth in UPS's global presence and profitability. Under his leadership, UPS has upgraded its new Intra-Asia hub in Shenzhen, China and added new air routes into Asia, Latin America and other emerging economic regions.
Prior to this role, Brutto was president of UPS Global Freight Forwarding, where he was responsible for air and ocean freight network management and global brokerage services. He led efforts to integrate multiple UPS freight forwarding units into a single global air and ocean forwarding unit.
Under Dan's leadership, UPS has developed a model that is unique to the logistics industry. This model couples the extensive UPS logistics network and assets with more typical freight forwarding options to create one operating system anywhere on the globe a customer originates a shipment.
Brutto began his career with UPS in 1975 as a part time employee while attending Loyola University in Illinois. Over the years, he held several senior management positions in operations, finance, marketing and business development. He was responsible for establishing UPS operations in 35 countries, and he played a significant role in the expansion of UPS capabilities beyond small packages.
Dan also leads UPS efforts to respond to natural disasters such as earthquakes in Haiti and Japan. He works directly with non-governmental organizations (NGOs), relief agencies, and governments to streamline their supply chains for more effective emergency response. He is responsible for creating logistics emergency teams for rapid response during dire emergencies, and he shares his expertise as a member of the board of directors of UNICEF.
Brutto earned undergraduate degrees in business and accounting from Loyola University, and a master of business administration degree from Keller Graduate School of Management. He also serves on the board of the U.S.-China Business Council.
