UPS (NYSE:UPS) today announced that Lisa Hamilton, president of The UPS Foundation, has been named to lead the UPS Corporate Public Relations Group. Current Corporate Public Relations Vice President Ken Sternad has been named president of The UPS Foundation.
A native of Atlanta, Hamilton earned a bachelor's degree in commerce from the University of Virginia and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Michigan. She joined UPS in the Corporate Tax Department in 1996. In 2003, she was promoted to program manager of The UPS Foundation and later served as a public affairs manager in Washington, D.C., before being named to her current post.
"Lisa has led the Foundation through a period of transformation that included global expansion and new focus areas," said Scott Davis, UPS chairman and CEO. "She brings to Public Relations an extensive knowledge of UPS and its commitment to partner with our communities."
A native of Norwalk, Conn., Sternad earned a bachelor's degree in journalism and political science from Ohio Wesleyan University. He joined UPS as a communications supervisor in 1977 and has served in his current position since 1997. In addition to his extensive public relations background at UPS, Sternad also held package operations positions in Maryland.
"During Ken's tenure in public relations, he led our communications efforts through many major events in UPS's history, including its becoming a public company and subsequent rebranding as well as the day-to-day reputation management of the company," noted Davis. "The UPS Foundation will benefit greatly from Ken's wealth of professional experience and leadership."
