Canadian Celebrities' Original Artwork Up for Auction

Fredericton, October 21, 2010

Online auction October 21-31 benefits kidney disease research

The Kidney Foundation of Canada and UPS Canada invite local residents and media to experience A Brush of Hope, a fundraising event displaying over 100 original paintings created by Canadian celebrities including Amy Sky, John Tavares, Brent Butt, Kevin "Boomer" Gallant, Bret Hart and many more! This year's auction will take place October 21-31, with all proceeds going to The Kidney Foundation of Canada.

"A Brush of Hope is a celebration of Canadian pop culture. It gives everyone an opportunity to own a little piece of Canadiana, while supporting a truly important cause – kidney research through The Kidney Foundation of Canada," says Tim Fox, executive director, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island Branch of The Kidney Foundation of Canada. "The support of UPS and our other sponsors means that all of the money raised by the sale of the paintings goes directly to the cause."

Residents in Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick have a number of opportunities to view the paintings at local exhibitions. The viewings are a sneak preview to inspire biddings during the online auction.

UPS Canada became a sponsor of A Brush of Hope for a special reason. Eight years ago, one of its Fredericton employees, Darren Martin, had a kidney transplant. The company wanted to show its support for Darren and to The Kidney Foundation of Canada.

A Brush of Hope raises funds for critical research of kidney disease. Nearly two million Canadians have, or are at risk of contracting, the disease.  Currently, there is no cure.

UPS Canada, along with Endeavours Art Stuff and ColArt are proud sponsors of A Brush of Hope.

Auction Details: Artwork can be bid on October 21 - 31. To bid, go to www.ebay.ca, keyword search Kidney Foundation.

You can also visit www.kidney.ca/nbpei or join the Facebook group "A Brush of Hope" to view the paintings and learn more about the event and how you can help find a cure.
