Urban League Black Executive Exchange Program (BEEP) Fact Sheet
Program Purpose:
To provide African-American college students with perspectives about the world of business. BEEP also works to broaden the career aspirations of young African-Americans while presenting positive role models from which the students may pattern themselves.
Brief History:
UPS has a long history of making a positive difference in the lives of people living in the communities it serves. While UPS has consistently addressed many social issues since its early days, careful consideration has always been given to the pursuit of quality education. Such commitment has been demonstrated through continued financial contributions from The UPS Foundation to national and local organizations working to improve our nation's educational system. Focusing on adult literacy from 1989 to 1998, The UPS Foundation contributed $6 million toward programs committed to increasing literacy levels among adults nationwide. In a new initiative, announced April, 1998, The UPS Foundation will expand its efforts in the literacy arena to include family and workplace literacy as one of its focal program areas. UPS's participation in the National Urban League's BEEP illustrates the company's continued focus on education and communities.
