After U.S. Success, Web-Based Shipping Solution Expands to 24 Countries and Territories

ATLANTA, Feb. 16, 2004 – UPS CampusShip™, a Web-based solution that has made shipping easier for thousands of businesses across the United States and Puerto Rico, now is available in an additional 22 countries and territories and 16 languages.

With UPS CampusShip, employees in different locations easily process and prepare shipping labels from their own computers while company decision-makers keep tabs on the entire process with centralized control and visibility. Corporate managers can establish company or department shipping guidelines, accurately track shipping costs by department or location and produce detailed reports on usage.

More than 7,500 businesses use UPS CampusShip, which was introduced in 2002. The product's success is growing, with shipping volume and revenue generated by the tool almost tripling from the fourth quarter of 2002 to the fourth quarter of 2003.

Businesses that continue to benefit from UPS CampusShip include retail and service industries such as financial, insurance, real estate and legal. For example, law firms can reduce internal costs by capturing client matter information to easily allocate costs each month. Retail companies with dispersed locations use CampusShip to control, streamline and manage shipments between stores.

“With our expansion of CampusShip around the world, multi-national businesses, as well as companies with a single country focus, can easily allocate costs and maintain centralized control. This creates a more streamlined business process and better management of operating expenses regardless of where the system's users are located,” said Kurt Kuehn, UPS senior vice president, worldwide sales and marketing.

One CampusShip customer is BSI Inspectorate, a U.S.-based laboratory services company that uses CampusShip to allocate costs and to process shipments of samples and reports between its field locations and laboratory.

"CampusShip gives BSI the ability to control shipping service levels and to easily create customs documentation. In addition, we can attach internal reference numbers to the shipment that help us track laboratory samples,” said Doug Hensen, Lab Manager.

BSI uses CampusShip to process U.S. origin shipments and recently implemented the product in Brazil and Mexico.

BeckerComPlan, a German-based office supply distributor, recently implemented CampusShip in nine locations to gain visibility and control for shipments sent directly from their suppliers to BeckerComPlan customers. Prior to CampusShip they used paper forms for these shipments. CampusShip has cut shipment processing time in half. In addition, BeckerComPlan benefits from improved cost allocation, and the visibility allows BeckercomPlan to provide better customer service.

UPS CampusShip now is available in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom and the United States.

UPS CampusShip is one of many technology-enabled UPS shipping solutions that allow businesses to improve customer service and increase efficiency while controlling costs. UPS has built a broad array of shipping solutions based on an industry-leading, multi-billion dollar technology infrastructure that enables customers to link product shipments to internal systems and information to give them visibility into their shipping process.
