UPS Once Again “America’s Most Admired”

ATLANTA, Feb. 6, 2001 – For the 18th consecutive year, UPS (NYSE:UPS) has been rated “America’s Most Admired” mail, package and freight delivery company in a Fortune magazine survey.

The honor follows a similar survey last fall in which UPS was selected the “World’s Most Admired” company in its industry. In the latest U.S. rankings, UPS also posted the highest average score of any airline or transportation company ranked by the magazine in other categories.

UPS, which has developed one of the world’s best known brands, operates in more than 200 countries and territories around the world and has been widely recognized in recent years for its expanding role in enabling global commerce.

In the Fortune rankings, UPS took top marks for every survey category in its industry, including its ability to innovate, financial soundness, quality of management, quality of products and social responsibility. Other categories ranked and led by UPS were long-term investment value, employee talent and use of corporate assets.

The complete rankings for each industry segment appear in the Feb. 19th issue of Fortune. UPS joins companies like General Electric, Cisco Systems, Microsoft, Gateway, Citigroup, Home Depot and DuPont at the top of their industries.

To compile its list of America’s most admired companies, Fortune worked with Clark Martire & Bartolomeo to poll 10,000 senior executives, directors and analysts. The result is an “industry-by-industry guide to corporate America’s shiniest reputations,” the magazine said.

United Parcel Service, the world’s largest express carrier and package delivery company, is headquartered in Atlanta, Ga. The company can be found on the Web at www.ups.com.
