The Small Business Conference Is Part of An Innovative CNN Integrated Sales Strategy

The CNN Advertising Sales and Marketing team is hosting the 2nd annual "On the Rise Small Business Conference," on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006 at the Time Warner Center in New York.  The event is part of CNN Ad Sales' newly announced business initiative that extends their sales efforts into events management and planning, creating compelling, integrated marketing solutions for clients, and adding an additional layer to CNN's vertical sales portfolio which also includes television, broadband, mobile, podcasting, VOD, and print.  The "On the Rise Small Business Conference" will be sponsored by UPS, the world's largest package delivery company.

Ali Velshi, one of CNN's top business anchors and a seasoned business and financial news reporter, will moderate the evening's discussion.  Velshi currently provides his signature report "Vested Interest" on American Morning and Prime News with Erica Hill.

Conference Panelists to date include: Eileen O'Brien, VP Worldwide small and medium business, Personal Systems Group, Hewlett Packard; Rieva Lesonsky, Entrepreneur Magazine; Laurel Delaney, President, Global TradeSource Ltd.; David Young, CEO and founder of BMI Gaming and Helen Morley, Founder and CEO of Helen Morley Designs, with topics ranging from global expansion to providing affordable employee healthcare.

During the program UPS will also announce the winners of the company's "Out-of-the-Box Small Business Contest" which recognizes small business owners who are creating innovative new products or services.

"We are proud to be continuing our partnership with UPS on this outstanding conference which is bringing together some top individuals in the business community," said Greg D'Alba, COO of CNN Ad Sales and Marketing. "Offering targeted event sponsorship opportunities that enable our advertisers to reach their clients on issues that are relevant and timely to their businesses, is an ideal way to broaden our integrated marketing efforts."

"This event is bringing real knowledge about running a small business to our clients and will reinforce UPS's commitment to meeting the distinct needs of the small business community," said Larry Bloomenkranz, vice president for brand management, advertising and sponsorships at UPS. "It also offers us a prestigious venue to recognize and celebrate the innovative spirit of small businesses in America by honoring our 'Out of the Box' contest winners."

The event was inspired by "On the Rise," a weekly business feature on CNN and CNN Headline News that celebrates small business success stories.  UPS was the first corporate sponsor of "On the Rise" when it debuted in 2005.
